The purpose of this award is to honor women of international reputation and/or outstanding achievement in the field of instrumental music who may or may not be members of WOMEN BAND DIRECTORS INTERNATIONAL, INC. Only one recipient shall be chosen annually. The award shall consist of a gold medallion.
