Tressie Truax Hunt

Mrs. Tressie Truax Hunt graduated from Bloomfield High School, Kentucky, in 1926.  She then graduated from the Louisville Conservatory of Music in 1928.  While at the Conservatory, she was a member of Phi Sigma Mu sorority.

Immediately after graduation in 1928, Mrs. Hunt joined the Chaplin High School (KY) faculty and created a band/orchestra.  She then moved in 1929 or 1930 to join the faculty at Bloomfield High School, where she organized an orchestra on October 1, 1930.  During Tressie's tenure at Bloomfield, she married George Henry Hunt.  On August 4, 1932, Mrs. Hunt gave birth to her son, George Henry Hunt III.

After George's birth, Tressie was a stay-at-home mother, housewife, and major caregiver for her husband until 1952.  When Mrs. Hunt's husband passed away unexpectedly, she retured to school to obtain a marketable skill in order to continue raising her two sons.  Mrs. Hunt graduated from Nazareth College in Louisville in June 1957 with a baccalaureate degree in elementary education.  Upon graduating, she obtained a fourth-grade teaching position in Jefferson County Public School System in Kentucky for many years.
